Bell honored as top collegiate journalist
Scott Bell was recently named one of the nation’s top 100 collegiate journalists when he was highlighted in the recently released UWire 100.
The list received some national buzz, with stories appearing on CNN.com and CBSNews.com once the group was officially announced.
Bell served as the Michigan Daily’s Managing Sports Editor during his junior and senior years. Along with running a staff of 30 writers, Bell covered two seasons of Michigan football, including the retirement of Lloyd Carr, the hiring of Rich Rodriguez and the team’s Capital One Bowl win in Orlando.
The UWire 100 includes students from all over the nation. Bell was one of two students from the state of Michigan who were selected.
Bell recently graduated from the University of Michigan with a history degree, and is now working for the Detroit Free Press. He graduated from Fremont High School in 2004. He is the son of Ed and Judy Bell of Fremont.
