Martha Cleo (Johnson) Grove

(August 2, 1917 - November 3, 2007)

Mrs. Martha Cleo (Johnson) Grove, 90, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007 at the home of her daughter in Saint Louis, Missouri, where she has lived for the past two years.

Cleo was born on Aug. 2, 1917 in Fremont, the daughter of Emil and Sarah (Smith) Johnson. After graduation from Fremont High School in 1936 she attended Muskegon Beauty School and was employed by the Yager Beauty Salon. On March 24, 1940 she married Orville E. Grove in Fremont, and he preceded her in death in February 1980.

She is survived by her children, Jay (Diane) Grove of Fremont and Deborah Ronzio (the late Joseph) of Saint Louis, Missouri; two grandsons, Kyle and Chad Grove of Fremont; one great-granddaughter, Bree Fields of Fremont; and her brother and sisters, Monte (Doris) Johnson of Fremont, Carlene Balavitch of Pentwater, and Pat (Craig) Strom of Worthington, Ohio. She leaves many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald, Earl (Pete), and Kenneth Johnson; and one sister, Edwinna Brookhouse.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. at the Fremont Christian Church at 10 E. Elm Street in Fremont. Internment of the remains will be in the Clark Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of your choice.
