Louise Cosens, 80, of Belding, and formerly of Fremont, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008 at Metron of Belding nursing center.

Louise was born on July 17, 1928 in Dayton Center to Edward Mortimer and Elizabeth (Pelkey) Howard, and graduated from Fremont High School in 1946. She met and later married Raymond H. Cosens on Dec. 7, 1946 in Fremont, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1982. Louise had started work at Gerber Products Company, where she was a lab technician in the quality control department until her retirement in 1988 after 22 years. She enjoyed doll collecting, crocheting and knitting dresses for dolls, and had been a member of a sewing circle in Fruitport.

She is survived by her children, Raene (Edwin) Kott of Fruitport, Rick (Vicki) Cosens of Spring Lake, and Randy H. Cosens; nine grand children; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Joyce (Vernon) Brant of Fremont; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Lois Church, Beatrice Hendrie, and Dorothy, Raymond, Clayton, Charles, William, Leon and Gordon Howard.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 11 at the Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont Chapel, with Rev. David Dickinson of the Fremont Christian Church, Disciples of Christ presiding, with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
