Leola L. “Odie” Hanes

(February 29, 1940 - February 17, 2008)

Leola L. “Odie” Hanes, 67, of Hesperia, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008 at Hackley VNS Hospice in Muskegon.

She was born on Feb. 29, 1940 in Hesperia to Reo Sidney and Grace (Gleason) Maynard. On July 3, 1964 she married Iral “Ike” Hanes and he preceded her in death on April 1, 2005. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Maynard and Darold “Clem” Maynard; and by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tracy Hanes, Eric Hanes, Jr., Icle Creamer, Margaret Hanes, Ronald Hanes, and Carol Redinger.

She is survived by three sons, Dale (Kari) Hanes of Fremont, Kevin Hanes of Fremont, and Craig (Stephani) Hanes of Fremont; her daughter-in-law, Joellen Wallace of Fremont; her foster son, Ronald (Wendy) Fowler of White Cloud; six grandchildren, Angela, Brandon, Dilan and Gavin Hanes, Tasonja and Matthew Frantz; three sisters, Luella (Don) Tinkham of Fremont, Donna Jean (Earl) Paprocki of Muskegon, and Peggy

(Bob) Perigo of Fremont; a brother, Elliot DeWitt of Fremont; and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol Maynard of Fremont, Beverly (Bill) Rusche of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Merlyn (Jan) Hanes of White Cloud, Wyola Hanes of Hesperia, Betty Hanes of Whitehall, and Marcus Redinger of Hart.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, with Pastor Lucky Fulton officiating. Interment will be in the spring at East Hesperia Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. Suggested memorial is Hackley VNS Hospice.
