Karen L. (Wildfong) Rumsey

Karen L. Rumsey, 66, of Hesperia, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 in Arizona.

Karen was born on Sept. 15, 1941 in Muskegon to Samuel and Mabel (Dipple) Wildfong. Karen graduated from Fremont High School and met and later married Bill Rumsey Sr. on Aug. 20, 1960 in Hesperia. Karen has been a lifelong resident of the Hesperia area where she had been a homemaker while her children were growing up. With her hus band, Bill, they owned and operated Hesperia Bait Shop in Hesperia and then she started work as a secretary at the State Farm Insurance Offices in Hesperia where she worked for 20 years until her retirement. Karen enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting, playing cards, camping in Pentwater and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Karen and Bill have spent their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona for the past six years.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bill of Hesperia; her children, Billy (Toni) Rumsey Jr. of Hesperia, Michael Scott (Theresa) Rumsey of Hesperia, and Robin Herin of Knoxville, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Lisa (Shawn) Montague, Michael Rumsey, Bryce Herin, Trent Herin, Claire Rumsey, and Isabelle Rumsey; her brothers and sisters, Robert (Judy) Wildfong of Fremont, Richard (Janet) Wildfong of Fruitport, Larry (Della) Wildfong of Cosa Grande, Arizona, Terry (Patricia) Wildfong of Whitehall, Eileen (Craig) Homan of Salem, South Carolina, and Denise Wildfong of Manton; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and neph ews; and special friends, Billie and Andy Patrick of Hesperia and Jo Konrady of Apache Junction, Arizona.

Funeral services will be held at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel with Rev. Richard Williams of the Hesperia Presbyterian Church presiding with inter ment in the West Hesperia Cemetery. Friends may con sider the Hesperia Public Library for memorial con tributions in memory of Karen.
