Joyce Montague
(December 26, 1932 - October 19, 2008)
Joyce Montague, 75, of Kimberling City, Missouri and formerly of Fremont, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Joyce was born on Dec. 26, 1932 in Crystal to Verlon and Lyla (Eldridge) Montague. She belonged to the Mount Hope Church in Lansing, and attended Faith City Church in Branson, Missouri. Joyce was raised and schooled in Fremont. After graduating, she joined the Air Force becoming a WAAF. She worked at the Lansing School for the Blind until they closed. Thereafter, she worked at her church as secretary to the music director before serving in the missions. She spent one year in Israel, two years in Germany before returning to the U.S. Joyce began Joyful Spirit Ministries while working with the Native American Peoples in Cherokee, North Carolina and Farmington, New Mexico. Joyce contin ued her ministry in Colorado before moving to Missouri.
She is survived by her sisters, Delora Montague of Lansing, and Patricia (Stanley) DeKuiper of Fremont; grandchildren, Mathew Hicks and Laura Hicks of Lansing; and a great-granddaughter, Kayla. Also special friends Bob and Linda Henderson of Kimberling City, Missouri.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Doris Baughman; and children, Michael Ashcraft and Debra Voss.
