James Steven Mlnarik

James Steven Mlnarik, 58, of Fremont, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 in Grand Rapids.

Jim was born on Sept. 4, 1950 in Jacksonville, Illinois, the eldest son of James L. and Mary Jane Mlnarik. He spent most of his young life in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School in 1968. He attended Grand Valley State College, as it was known then. He then moved to Denver, Colorado and ultimately to Phoenix, Arizona where he operated his own mechanical shop for a number of years. In 2000, Jim returned to Fremont and went to work for the Hi-Lites. He had many interests. He had become an amateur radio operator while in high school and continued to nurture a life long interest in airplanes and cars. He will be greatly missed by his family.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Jane Mlnarik; brothers, Michael (Pamela) Mlnarik and Thomas Mlnarik; nephews, Peter and Daniel Mlnarik; a niece, Rebecca Mlnarik; and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Mlnarik; and by his brother, David Martin Mlnarik.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont, with Fr. Peter M. Chukwu officiating. The family will meet friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
