Emily Scheffler crowned 2008 NBFF Queen
It is with great pleasure for the National Baby Food Festival to announce this year's queen, Emily Scheffler.
Emily is the daughter of Elsie Manning and John Scheffler. She is seventeen years old and a recent graduate of Fremont High School. She will be attending Central Michigan University this fall to study graphic design and advertising.
"I must start out by saying that I am truly honored to have been chosen as the 2008 National Baby Festival Queen. I hope to bring honor to the title by being a positive member and an active volunteer in our community," stated Emily. She feels that being a part of the festival was an amazing experience! No matter if she was chasing frogs, eating baby food, or wearing an oversized diaper during Corporate Olympics, the time spent was great fun!!!
Being a part of the queen's court was a great opportunity for Emily to see all of the hard work that goes into making the festival run so smoothly! The festival volunteers, sponsors, and the Chamber of Commerce put in countless hours to make the festival a success.
For Emily, her favorite part of the Baby food festival was that of Special Kid's day. Meeting the kids and riding rides with the kids was very heartwarming. It was truly a blessing to have the opportunity to spend time with these incredible kids. Emily said she would not trade her experience with the festival for the world!!!!
"I feel honored to be part of the 2008 Queen's court and I would encourage any teenage girl in Newaygo County to apply. I am already excited for next year's festival and I am sure it will be just wonderful," said Emily.
The 2008 Queen's Court consisted of McKell Gilliland, 1st Runner Up McKenna Osborn and Queen Emily Scheffler.
Watch for the 2009 National Baby Food Festival as it will be held on July 21st through July 25th.
