Matthews receives college soccer award

Albion College head men’s soccer coach Jerry Block has announced his team’s letterwinners for the 2008 season. Jordan Matthews, the son of Christopher Matthews and Jean Matthews of Fremont, will receive a plaque designating his third-year award.

The Britons fielded a young team (13 of the letterwinners were first-year players or sophomores) and tied for third in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association with an 8-6 league record. Albion’s overall record was 9-9-1.

Jordan Matthews, a graduate of Fremont High School, played in the midfield in 18 matches. He dished out three assists.
