Cliff Somers named Coach of the Year

Fremont High School boys cross country coach Cliff Somers was named the state’s Division 2 Boys Coach of the Year on Saturday, Nov. 12.

Somers completed his ninth season as the Packers’ head coach last week with a state championship. A Fremont High School graduate, he also ran on the FHS state championship team of 1989.

The Michigan Inter-scholastic Track Coaches Association honored Somers at the annual MITCA coaching clinic. The annual award winners are nominated and elected by their coaching peers.
