Former wrestling coach honored in Fremont

During a recent basketball game, Fremont High School Principal Scott Sherman (left), former Athletic Director Gordan Ringquist, FHS wrestling Coach John Stariha and school Superintendent John Kingsnorth were all part of the presentation of a plaque honoring former FHS wrestling coach Tom McDougall, who led a highly successful FHS program from 1969 to 1979. Several of McDougall’s wrestlers went on to college competition, and McDougall compiled a 101-16 record at Fremont. He was inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches Hall of Fame at Central Michigan University. A plaque similar to one in the Hall of Fame will be displayed at Fremont High School.
